Smart Home Systems In The UK
The number of UK households containing a form of ‘Home Automation’ is increasing, with new research estimating that one in nine UK homes will contain some form of Smart Home technology. Within five years one in four households are set to become complete ‘Smart Homes’.
It is estimated that by the end of 2014 3.1 million homes will have some form of Smart Home System, spending a total of £715 million, which is a 43 percent increase on 2013 figures. It is predicted to double to 1.4 billion across 7.7 million homes by 2019.
Manufacturers such as Control4, Savant & Crestron lead the way in Smart Home Technology. These pioneering companies, train and authorize, installation and programming third parties such as Ashville Smart Homes to supply, install and commission.
According to ‘strategy analytics’ 17 percent of US homes are adopting ‘Smart Home Systems’ this year, with the UK slightly behind at 11 percent. While trailing the US, the UK are still above the global 5 percent of homes making the Smart Home transformation.
